What does the Quantitative Easing mean
Have you ever been at a party and the latest buzz word comes up. Everyone nods in an understanding way and you think I don't know what they are talking about. The latest phrase is Quantitative Easing. It on the news channels and in the papers. But what does it mean?
Put simply it is swapping cash, printed by the Bank of England, for financial assets. The bank increases the amount of money in circulation. It is then deposited and banks start lending again to stimulate the economy. That the theory!
